Join Fair Budget Coalition and partners on Friday, October 16, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. in the Wilson Building to pack the revenue hearing where the Council will consider tax policies to fund a budget for the people! Last June, our budget included harsh cuts to programs that serve our communities - emergency rental assistance, health care, nutrition and food, assistance for the poorest children, and more. New revenue is critical for meeting the needs and helping communities make ends meet. The Council will be exploring different tax policies to improve DC’s future. We particularly support the Wealth Proceeds Tax, which would tax the passive income of very high income households - such as capital gains, dividends, interest, annuities, and other investments that grow wealth and are currently undertaxed.
